After the War

After a crushing surprise attack by the invading Ammathans, the soldiers of Menelat’s army are scattered, struggling to survive long enough to regroup. Among them are Diertan, an ordinary soldier, and the man who saved his life: Terimath, a quiet gunman who is one of the most frighteningly competent people Diertan has ever known. The two of them are sleeping together, but Diertan can’t consider them lovers—Terimath is too distant for that. But as they head toward Diertan’s hometown, cracks appear in the gunman’s shell, making Diertan wonder if he is alone in his feelings after all.
