Poor Jack, off to sell his mother's cow, believes in some magic beans offered to him by an old woman and trades the cow for the beans. When his mother hears of such a foolish bargain, she scolds the boy and tosses the beans out the window. Next morning, where the beans fell, a beanstalk appears, growing right up into the sky. Jack climbs it to the top and finds the castle of a wicked Ogre, who lives within. Boldly, Jack makes his way inside and hides from sight. But the Ogre is not to be fooled with. When he awakes to find Jack running off with his precious golden harp, he decides to have the boy for his next meal, and Jack must do some fast thinking to escape such an unlucky end.
