They were soul mates, until a car accident takes the life of Michaela, leaving the estranged narrator in a coma and suffering from severe head trauma. Upon awakening, he is suicidal, with a blurry memory and a sometimes distorted reality. He attempts to pick up the pieces of his life when he moves to Minneapolis to pursue his lifelong dream of forming a rock band.
Against all of his logic he falls madly in love with a captivating young waitress named Olivia who is a beautiful disaster herself, stemming from a mysterious childhood tragedy. Their new found intense love quickly cascades dangerously between jovial romance and intense hatred.
