The vast wilderness of Northern Maine holds many secrets. This summer, it will also hold the annual retreat for the Bigfoot and Other Nocturnals Exploration Society, or B.O.N.E.S. for short.
Kit Marsh lies to her parents and begs to go off to Wilderness Scout Camp, with zero intention of attending. Instead, she uses the camp as a cover to hitch a ride to Percival State Park to meet B.O.N.E.S. and find the legendary Sasquatch once and for all.
The week-long expedition won't be easy. There are hundreds of miles to cover and the seven other participants--three founding members of B.O.N.E.S., a local historian, a park ranger, and two amateur monster hunters--couldn’t be more different.
With each step deeper into the woods, Kit inches closer to the truth. Branches move by themselves and stones are thrown by an unseen assailant. When food goes missing it becomes clear, someone is sabotaging their trip. Someone doesn’t want them there. Someone doesn’t want them to get any closer to the truth. But it doesn’t stop B.O.N.E.S. from believing they are closer than ever to uncovering one of the world’s greatest mysteries.
Soon Kit learns that Bigfoot isn’t the only monster hidden away in the forest. The biggest danger is hidden in plain sight and by the time she realizes it, it might be too late.
