Elaine Palencia's fourth poetry chapbook is all about writing and writers, from "The Classics" and "At the Trojan War with Daddy," to "Emily Dickinson's Bodyguard Speaks" and "Marcel Proust Visits Burger King." There are also poems about craft, such as "Novel Instructions," "Writing Manual,"and the title poem, as well as poems in a variety of writing modes: "Grocery List", "Ecstasy" (in the form of a diary entry), and "Letter from a Dead Man," based on a letter the author's great-great grandfather wrote during the Civil War.
Palencia is also the author of two short story collections and "On Rising Ground: The Life and Civil War Letters of John M. Douthit, 52nd Georgia Volunteer Infantry," forthcoming from Mercer University Press in 2020.
