Camila and Amaia have been on their own since Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017 leaving the young Camila as guardian to her preteen sister. Four years later the sisters receive another blow. 15-year-old Amaia is pregnant and Camila has no idea how she is supposed to take care of her sister and a baby—at 23, Camila is barely an adult herself, and the baby’s father is nowhere to be found. She’s got enough on her plate, but the sexy male nurse at the obstetrician’s office could be just what she needs to get her mind off her troubles, so long as she doesn’t fall in love.
Maddox moved to Puerto Rico from Illinois right after the hurricane to volunteer with the American Red Cross. With nothing to go back home to, he gets a job working in an obstetrician’s office and spends his free time on the beach surfing. He’s got everything he wants in life except a woman to share it with, but he’s had a long string of heartbreak ever since moving to the island.
