Scared and confused, Kailani recalls the mystical stories of starshells that her ailing grandmother once loved to tell. When her grandmother urges Kailani to leave her bedside in search of the starshells, Kailani soon realizes that those old stories were more than they seemed. As Kailani relives her grandmother's story, her own story begins to unfold.
